Deadly Clash between Rival Cults Results in Fatal Shooting and Hand Amputation in Ogun State

Tragically, a man known as Mosquito was fatally shot and hacked to death by suspected cultists in Ijagun, situated in the Ijebu Ode area of Ogun State.

He was discovered lying in a pool of blood, missing his left hand, revealing he was a member of the Aye confraternity.

The Ogun State Police Command released a statement on Monday providing details of the incident.

Upon receiving a distress call, law enforcement officers found six expended cartridges upon arriving at the scene.

A phone call received by a concerned individual at around 11:40 pm on August 11, 2024, alerted the police about the cult clash on Ijagun Road in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

In response, the Divisional Police Officer promptly dispatched a team to the location.

Upon examination, the police discovered the body of an unidentified middle-aged man with machete wounds and gunshot wounds. His severed left hand was missing, and he was later identified as ‘Mosquito,’ a member of the Aye confraternity. Six expended cartridges were also recovered at the crime scene.

The deceased was then taken to Ijebu Ode State Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
