Collaboration to Address Illegal Migration and Human Trafficking: Nigeria and France Join Forces

France has expressed its commitment to enhancing the current relationship with Nigeria, specifically in combating illegal migration and human trafficking.

During a courtesy visit to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo in Abuja, the French Ambassador in charge of Migration at the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Christophe Leonzi, affirmed this stance.

Mr. Leonzi emphasized the importance of establishing a more consistent dialogue between Nigeria and France, particularly in addressing issues related to illegal migration and human trafficking. He underscored the significance of more efficient cooperation between the two countries in various aspects to effectively tackle these challenges.

While acknowledging the existing cooperation between Nigeria and France in these areas, Mr. Leonzi stressed the need to further deepen this partnership to combat illegal migration and human trafficking more effectively.

Highlighting Nigeria as a strong ally in these efforts, he emphasized the importance of reinforcing cooperation, especially in enhancing border security and management.

In response, Minister Tunji-Ojo assured that Nigeria is dedicated to strengthening its ties with France to ensure mutual benefit and a more robust relationship between the two nations. He acknowledged the significant support and assistance that Nigeria has received from France through their development cooperation over the years.
