Chinese Nationals Kidnapped in Ogun State


Two Chinese nationals, Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, were reportedly abducted by suspected kidnappers on Sunday in the Kémta/Abule-Owu area along Onigbedu Road in Ogun State.

According to reports, the victims, who are associated with Good One Carton Company in the area, left the company premises around 1:45 pm to visit their friends without any security escort.

Confirming the incident on Monday, Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson of the state police command, mentioned that the kidnappers had contacted the company to demand a ransom for the release of the Chinese nationals.

Odutola stated, “The company’s security supervisor received a call from one of the expatriates informing him about the abduction of Wenguang and Ding and the ransom demand made by the kidnappers.”

She further informed that security forces in the state have initiated a search operation to rescue the victims. She said, “Our team in the Ewekoro Division, along with local vigilantes, military personnel, local hunters, and other security units, conducted a thorough search of the entire Kémta Village forest but unfortunately did not locate them.”

Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe release of the abducted Chinese nationals.
