Change in Heart: Sanwo-Olu’s Chief of Staff backs down on legal threat against Gani Adams

Mr Tayo Ayinde, the Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, has decided to withdraw the threat of legal action against Iba Gani Adams, the Aare Onakakanfo of Yorubaland.

In a letter dated Wednesday, March 27, 2024, Ayinde’s lawyer, Adeyinka Olumide-Fusika (SAN), addressed Adams’ lawyers at OKC Attorneys, indicating that Ayinde has taken into account Adams’ response to their previous correspondence regarding the matter.

NewsNow previously reported that Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, and Ayinde had threatened legal action against Adams for accusing them of scheming an assassination.

Both Igboho and Ayinde, through their legal representatives, demanded a retraction of the alleged assassination accusations or else they would initiate legal proceedings against Adams.

In a pre-action letter dated March 20, 2024, Ayinde, via his lawyer Olumide-Fusika, raised concerns about a widely circulated note accusing Adams of implying his involvement in nefarious activities with Igboho.

Adams, represented by his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Aderemi, described the audio recording as misrepresented and distorted, asserting that the legal threats from Igboho and Ayinde were part of a larger plot to undermine his reputation.

Adams’ legal team stated, “Our client refutes the allegations made in your letter regarding the supposed audio clip attributed to him. The content of the alleged video, a manipulated and incomplete segment of a private conversation from 2021, was disseminated by Chief Sunday Adeyemo, not our client.”

Opting for a peaceful resolution, Ayinde’s lawyer responded to Adams, acknowledging his denial of involvement in the viral voice note and indicating a willingness to close the matter.

The lawyer stated, “Based on my client’s understanding of your communication, and your client’s denial of responsibility for the audio clip, my client intends to resolve this issue without further action.”

While Ayinde respects individuals exercising their legal rights, he expects all parties, including Adams, to uphold truth, fairness, and the public interest.

In response, Adams’ lawyer, Oluwole Kehinde, expressed gratitude for Ayinde’s decision to retract the litigation threat, appreciating the gesture and understanding shown in the matter.
