Catholic Bishop’s Call for Emulating Jesus’ Sacrifice on Good Friday

In Ibadan, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Oyo, Most Rev. Emmanuel Badejo, has urged leaders and Nigerians to reflect on Christ’s sacrifice as Christians observe the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.

Emphasizing the message of Good Friday, Badejo called on leaders, individuals in positions of authority, and all Nigerians to follow Jesus’ example to enhance society and institutions.

He underlined that Good Friday embodies the essence of exceptional leadership qualities such as service, humility, and love.

The catholic bishop pointed out that Good Friday symbolizes the myriad challenges and issues in life, be it at work, in families, or on a national scale.

He articulated that addressing these challenges requires more than just prayers; it necessitates earnest, honest, and selfless efforts from everyone to foster goodness and resist sin and wickedness.

“Nigeria is not beyond redemption; it is righteousness that uplifts a nation.

“Good Friday marks the day when Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice by giving His life on the cross for the world’s salvation.

“It is this act of selflessness that is commendable, despite the pain and injustice of his suffering and death.

“Jesus Christ, the Son of God, relinquished His glory and gave his life with love and humility. Through His crucifixion on Good Friday, Jesus illustrated the value of sacrificing for others’ well-being.

“Such acts of suffering or sacrifice, akin to a mother’s love for her children or a friend’s devotion to another, are pleasing to God.

“Good Friday urges us to repent, shun sin, extend kindness to others, and in turn, bask in God’s grace,” he affirmed.
