Naira Marley given last chance to appear in court over alleged car theft

The court has granted Naira Marley one final opportunity to appear in relation to allegations of car theft. Chief Magistrate Tajudeen Elias, who issued the ultimatum on December 31, warned that a bench warrant will be issued for the rapper's arrest if he fails to attend the hearing on January 14, 2020. Naira Marley is being tried alongside his two brothers, Idris Fashola, 18, and Babatunde Fashola, 24, as well as one Kunle Obere, 22, for their alleged involvement in the car theft. The charges against the defendants include conspiracy, stealing, assault, and obstructing the arrest of Naira Marley. President Buhari approves appointment of Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad as the MD of Rural Electrification Agency

President Buhari has given approval for the appointment of Engr. Ahmad Salihijo Ahmad as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). The news was relayed by the Minister of Power, Engr. Mamman Sale through a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications, Aaron Artimas, in Abuja. Additionally, President Buhari also appointed Chief Olaniyi Alaba Netufo as the Executive Director for the South West, and Eddi Mietuade Smith Julius as the Non-Executive Director for the South-South. Ahmad, the newly appointed CEO, is described as a renewable energy expert with two Masters Degrees in Development Studies and Project Planning. He brings a wealth of knowledge and planning experience in the power sector development.

Bank staff and boyfriend who allegedly assaulted actress Chioma Toplis, to face trial

A bank staff identified as 36-year-old Vivian Okoro and her 36-year-old boyfriend Femi Omomeji, will be arraigned before an Igbosere Chief Magistrate Court in Lagos on January 11, 2020 for allegedly assaulting and inflicting injuries on nollywood actress, Chioma Toplis.   It was gathered that Toplis and Vivian were living at 11 Abagbon Close in Victoria Island, Lagos at the time of the incident while Omomeji, head of graphics at the Union Bank Headquarters in Lagos lived at Church street in Ipaja, Lagos.     Recounting how the incident occurred, Toplis said she was beaten, dragged on the ground which led to multiple fractures on her left leg and injuries all over her body after she questioned the defendants who she met removing the switch from her meter.
