The move comes after concerns that excrement left on the mountain does not fully break down, leading to illness among climbers. A colon cancer operation turned fatal for an American woman due to a surgical robot causing a hole in her intestine.  Sandra Sultzer, 78, from Boca Raton, passed away in 2022 following a colon cancer treatment procedure the previous year. Operatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command have detained six suspected armed robbers.  The command's spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, stated in a release on Friday, February 9, 2024, that the arrests were carried out by personnel from the Utako Divisional Headquarters. The suspects were apprehended in an uncompleted hospital building known as a notorious black spot in Utako village. Pop star Cyndi Lauper's son, Declyn 'Dex' Lauper, has been arrested in New York City on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and drugs. The arrest comes after a shooting incident in Harlem where a 24-year-old man was found shot in the leg near an apartment building at around 7:15 p.m. After the shooting, Dex was taken into custody as part of the investigation. The injured man was taken to Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital and is listed in stable condition. Dex was scheduled for arraignment at Manhattan Criminal Court on Thursday. Officials have not confirmed if there is a direct link between Dex's arrest and the shooting incident. ABC7 reported that the gun found in Dex's possession at the time of his arrest was loaded.

Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Calabar, UNICAL, was granted bail by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Friday, Feb. 9. The court also granted bail to his lawyer, Sunny Anyanwu, who was arraigned along with him by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC. Ndifon's bail was set at N250 million with two sureties, while his lawyer, Anyanwu, was granted N50 million bail with two sureties.
