Call for Gender Equality by Ogun State

Efforts must be united to eliminate all forms of gender biases, as advocated by Ogun State.

At a recent event commemorating International Women’s Day in Abeokuta, the Deputy Governor of the state, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized the importance of addressing the prevalent gender stereotypes, biases, and discriminations.

She highlighted the significance of celebrating exceptional women who are breaking barriers through innovation, excellence, and service delivery in a world filled with gender biases.

The administration led by Dapo Abiodun was lauded for its commitment to creating a supportive environment that encourages women’s involvement in evidence-based policies and various empowerment initiatives.

Furthermore, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Adijat Adeleye, stressed the importance of increased inclusion and engagement of women in all aspects of human endeavors.

Adeleye viewed the event as a platform to acknowledge the accomplishments and resilience of women worldwide. She recognized the ongoing challenges impeding women’s full involvement and inclusion in various fields.

She also highlighted the pivotal role that women have historically played in advancing societal values, driving community development, and enhancing economic prosperity.

She emphasized that these achievements were facilitated by investments, education, access to resources, and opportunities for leadership positions.

The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Oluwaseyi Sokoya, affirmed women’s contribution to nation-building, community development, and social advancement.

Sokoya reiterated the government’s dedication to safeguarding the rights of girls and women in the state by empowering them to enhance their livelihoods.
