Breaking News: Lagos State Police Apprehend Two Suspects for Traffic Robbery

Two individuals believed to be involved in a series of traffic robberies in the Iganmu/Ijora Badia area of Lagos State have been apprehended by the police.

SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the police command, confirmed the arrest on Monday. According to him, the suspects were identified with the help of their mobile phones, one of which fell from one of the suspects’ pockets during their attempted escape from the initial apprehension.

The breakthrough came after a concerned resident raised an alarm about the suspects’ criminal activities. On Saturday at about 2:00 p.m., a group of approximately 10 hoodlums attacked the resident and stole N30,000 from him while he was fixing his car under the Iganmu Bridge.

Hundeyin further explained that the resident’s distress call attracted the attention of the police surveillance team of Ijora Badia Police Division and a local vigilance group on Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora. Together, they pursued the robbers.

“The combined team swiftly responded and chased the suspects after the alarm was raised. Although the suspects managed to escape, the operatives successfully recovered a mobile phone and what seemed to be Indian Hemp at the scene,” Hundeyin stated.

He continued, “However, on Sunday around 10:00 a.m., the police managed to track down and apprehend the two ringleaders of the gang, Adamu Abdullahi, 28, and Adam Mohammed, 19. It was determined that Adamu Abdullahi was the owner of the recovered phone. The suspects confessed to the crime and were identified by the victim.”

Hundeyin added that the police are actively pursuing other members of the gang while the investigation into the case remains ongoing.
