Breaking News: Fiorentina’s Patrick Cutrone and German Pezzella Test Positive for COVID-19

Italian footballers Patrick Cutrone and German Pezzella, who play for Fiorentina, have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus.

Patrick Cutrone, a striker on loan from Wolves, and his teammate German Pezzella received positive test results for the virus, as did the club’s physiotherapist Stefano Danielli.

Fiorentina released a statement on Saturday confirming the positive tests, stating, “ACF Fiorentina announces that footballers Patrick Cutrone and German Pezzella and physiotherapist Stefano Dainelli also underwent tests, as they were showing some symptoms. All three resulted positive and are in good health at their homes in Florence.”

This development comes on the heels of Fiorentina’s announcement that Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic had also tested positive for the virus.

The World Health Organization has issued a warning about the escalating situation in Europe, highlighting it as the “epicentre” of the global COVID-19 pandemic, with more infections and casualties than the combined total in the rest of the world, except for China.
