Urgent Update: Kogi Youths Protest EFCC’s Attempt to Detain Yahaya Bello Over Alleged N80.2 Billion Fraud

On Tuesday, a group of young people in Kogi State voiced their disapproval of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission’s (EFCC) intention to apprehend former Governor Yahaya Bello for his alleged involvement in an N80.2 billion fraud.

The demonstrators, who congregated in large numbers, obstructed the busy Lokoja-Abuja road, leading to a traffic jam on the highway.

Under the banners of the Coalition of Civil Society for Democracy and Africa Youths Coalition for Justice, the protesters accused the anti-graft agency of engaging in a witch-hunt and unfairly targeting the ex-Governor.

They carried signs with various slogans such as “Nigeria is not a banana republic,” “President Tinubu, rein in EFCC,” “Stop victimizing,” “Yahaya Bello is a law-abiding citizen,” “EFCC, respect court orders,” among others.

The groups emphasized the importance of exercising caution and upholding the principles of the rule of law in Bello’s legal proceedings.

Further details will be provided shortly.
