Successful Rescue Mission in Timbuktu Triangle Saves Women and Children

In a recent operation, the Nigerian Army successfully rescued women and children who were being held captive by terrorists in the Timbuktu Triangle, located in the Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State. The troops also recovered valuable assets during the mission.

A post on the force’s official X handle on Monday, April 22, shared the details of the daring rescue operation. The troops conducted a sustained offensive to clear terrorists’ hideouts in the Timbuktu Triangle spanning Borno and Yobe States, leading to the successful recovery of assets and the liberation of the captives.

During the operation, the fleeing terrorists abandoned their enclaves, leaving behind military equipment such as the MOWAG Armoured Personnel Carrier, a Canter Truck, and a Tractor. In addition to the assets, 44 civilians, including women and children, who were being held captive in the area, were rescued by the brave troops.

The rescued women and children were immediately provided with relief and handed over to the Borno State Ministry of Women Affairs for further assistance, according to the Army.
