Police recover AK-47 rifle, pump action, others in Delta

A team of police officers from Ekpan Division in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State has successfully recovered several weapons, including an AK47 Rifle, a magazine loaded with seven (7) rounds of 7.62mm Ammunitions, an English pump action gun with three (3) live cartridges, and two cut-to-size Double Barrel Guns. These items were found abandoned in an uncompleted building in the Aladja Community, Udu Local Government Area.

The recovery took place on Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, at approximately 1600hrs. The weapons were left behind by criminal elements who were operating in Warri, Udu, Koko, and nearby areas.

The Police Surveillance Team managed to track the criminals to their hideout at Aladja Grammar School in Aladja Town, Udu Local Government. Upon seeing the police officers, the hoodlums immediately fled the scene.

The Command has confirmed the report through a statement signed by DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer. DSP Edafe stated, “A search was conducted around the uncompleted building, and a sack bag was discovered.” The recovered items were found inside the sack bag.

Efforts are currently underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for these illegal activities, as stated by DSP Edafe, “Efforts are on top gear to identify and arrest the said hoodlums.”
