Barcelona looking at Liverpool attacker for Lewandowski’s successor

Reports suggest that Barcelona is considering Liverpool’s Darwin Nunez as a replacement for their star striker Robert Lewandowski. This comes at a time of changes on the horizon for both clubs in the upcoming summer.

Barcelona is in a position where they need to revamp their squad due to La Liga’s reduced salary cap of £174 million. This means high-earning players like Lewandowski, who earns £27 million per year, are likely to leave, despite his age of 36. Lewandowski has been in fine form, scoring 24 goals and providing nine assists in 45 appearances this season.

The Sun reports that Barcelona’s interest in Nunez dates back to four years ago when they nearly signed him from Almeria.

Even though Nunez is one of Liverpool’s top earners, with a salary of around £7 million, he is seen as an attractive and financially viable option for the Spanish club.

However, Liverpool might be hesitant to let go of the Uruguayan forward, especially since they acquired him from Benfica just two years ago in a deal worth up to £85 million.
