Bandits in Zamfara Attempt Another Abduction of Zurmi Emir

Once more, a group of bandits has attacked Zurmi town, the administrative center of Zurmi Local Government Area in Zamfara State, in an attempt to kidnap the Emir, Alhaji Bello Mohammed Bunu.

According to Mallam Mustapha Muhammad Zurmi, a resident of the area, who spoke to NewsNow via telephone, the Emir was successfully safeguarded by security personnel who escorted him to Gusau when the bandits carried out their recent assault on the town.

While no casualties or abductions were reported during the attack, it was noted that the bandits have been persistently targeting the Emir for abduction.

The source revealed that the bandits had insider help, receiving crucial information about the town from informants embedded within the community.

He further added, “The bandits have now relocated to Zurmi, operating freely without any interference from security forces.”

It should be remembered that the bandits previously set fire to the Divisional Police headquarters in Zurmi and destroyed all MTN equipment, causing severe communication issues for the residents.

Residents of Kaura and Shinkafi Local Government Areas in Zamfara State have been struggling with communication problems since the destruction of the MTN equipment in Zurmi.

Efforts to obtain a comment from the spokesperson of the State Police Command, ASP Yazid Abubakar, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
