Enugu APC Mourns The Loss of Senator Ayogu Eze


Upon learning of the tragic passing of Senator Ayogu Eze, who represented Enugu North Senatorial District from 2007 to 2015, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State was filled with a deep sense of sorrow and shock.

In a statement released to the press in Enugu over the weekend, signed by the State Chairman of APC, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah, it was expressed that the news of Senator Eze’s sudden demise on April 25 left party members and leaders with intense sadness.

The statement highlighted Senator Ayogu Eze’s significant contributions to the APC in Enugu State, noting his past roles such as working as a journalist with Newswatch Magazine and representing Enugu North Senatorial District under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from 2007 to 2015.

Senator Eze also ran as the governorship candidate for APC in Enugu State in 2019 and was a respected member representing Enugu State in the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission until his passing.

His extensive political career included serving as a Special Adviser to the former Governor of Old Enugu State, being part of the Transition to Civil Rule Committee in 1999, serving as Commissioner for Commerce from 1999 to 2007, and acting as the pioneer Enugu state secretary of PDP.

APC Enugu State remembered Senator Ayogu Eze’s legacy of service with utmost respect, highlighting his significant role during his eight years in the Senate as chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Media, where he served as the official spokesman of the Senate, and as a member of the Constitution Drafting and Amendment Committee that made notable changes to Nigeria’s 1999 constitution.

In concluding the statement, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah, on behalf of APC Enugu State, extended heartfelt condolences to Senator Eze’s family, sharing in their grief and praying for the peaceful repose of his soul.
