An auto mechanic named Jonathan Marcus has been taken into custody in connection with the tragic killing of an elderly couple, Adebola Ezekiel, 80, and Abiodun Ezekiel, 79, at their residence in Apo Legislative Quarters, Abuja on the 31st of March, 2024. Marcus, who often worked as a chauffeur for the couple, was presented along with several other suspects by the Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igwe, during a recent press briefing.

The police swiftly launched an investigation and managed to apprehend Marcus, a former driver of the deceased couple. Authorities disclosed that their detectives tracked down the suspect to his hideout in Obajana, Kogi, where he was arrested.

According to Igwe, the suspect admitted to entering the victims’ residence on the same day, murdering them, and stealing their phones and ATM cards.

In a separate case, Igwe informed the media that two individuals were apprehended for suspected murder in the Mabushi area of Abuja on the 11th of April, 2024, after a tip-off regarding the discreet transportation of a deceased person.

The Commissioner elaborated, “The deceased had visited her alleged boyfriend who later left her in the care of the female suspect. Unfortunately, the male suspect administered unauthorized drugs to the victim, resulting in her untimely death.”

The suspects are currently in police custody undergoing questioning. Igwe also highlighted a successful operation by Utako Division’s operatives who detained nine armed robbers on the 6th of April, 2024.

Furthermore, the CP mentioned that the arrested suspects confessed to participating in various robberies and other crimes in the FCT. A significant arsenal was seized, including locally made rifles, an English pistol, and ammunition.

During a routine patrol at Durumi IDP Camp on April 9, police intercepted three armed robbery suspects in possession of an English-made pistol and a Mazda vehicle, all of whom were promptly apprehended.

Following investigations, Igwe reiterated that all suspects will be prosecuted in court.
