Authorities Take Action After Patients’ Death: DSS Closes Clinic in Jos Community

In Jos North local government area of Plateau State, the Al-Ihsan clinic in Ungwan Rogo community has been sealed off by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Following reports of a patient’s death after receiving treatment at the clinic and suspicions of quackery, the secret police took action on Sunday, as reported by Daily Trust.

Last week, a woman passed away in the clinic post a surgery allegedly carried out by Mr. Lukuma Abdul. The incident triggered public outcry, with many questioning his medical expertise and linking the death to the surgery.

Mr. Abdul refuted the claims, stating that the surgery he performed did not cause the patient’s death.

A complaint submitted to the state health ministry by concerned community members regarding suspected quackery at the clinic prompted the intervention of the DSS.

Community member Sadis Muhammad Albasu, narrating the situation, expressed, “The main reason for shutting down the hospital is the suspected quackery practices observed, particularly after a woman lost her life following a surgical procedure at the clinic.

”It has come to light that Mr. Lukuman is not a licensed medical practitioner; he does not possess the required qualifications for conducting surgical procedures.

“Numerous individuals have raised concerns, leading to the formal report to the state health ministry for appropriate measures. He lacks the necessary medical credentials but has been conducting surgeries in the community,” the community leader added.
