Atiku questions leadership vacuum in Nigeria with Tinubu and Shettima absent

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has raised concerns about the simultaneous absence of President Bola Tinubu and his deputy, Kashim Shettima, from Nigeria during a period of significant national challenges.

Atiku mentioned that he has received numerous reports regarding the absence of the President and Vice President from the country.

On Monday, Atiku took to his X handle to express his thoughts, suggesting that the country might be operating on autopilot in their absence.

He pondered on the situation, stating, “It is unprecedented for both leaders to be away from the country at the same time, particularly when faced with such daunting challenges. The question arises: who is currently leading the government, or should we assume that we are running on autopilot?”

Reports indicate that Shettima’s visit to the United States for the US-Africa Business Summit, coupled with Tinubu’s delayed return from the Special World Economic Forum meeting, has left a noticeable gap in the nation’s leadership.
