Arrest Made in the Murder of Rae Sremmurd’s Stepfather

An arrest has been made in the murder of the stepfather of hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd. Michael Sullivan, the 19-year-old half-brother of Swae Lee and Slim Jxmmi, has been taken into custody in connection with the shooting death of his father, Floyd Sullivan.

The Tupelo Police Department released a statement detailing the events leading to the arrest. Michael Sullivan was released from a psychological care facility before he was apprehended for first-degree murder on Tuesday night, and he is currently being held at the Lee County Sheriff’s Department.

Tupelo authorities responded to the shooting at Tupelo’s Lumpkin Avenue on Monday night and discovered that Floyd Sullivan had been fatally shot multiple times. Michael was identified as a person of interest in the case.

Following his arrest, Michael appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges of murdering his father, who had raised the Sremmurd boys since their time in Junior High School, after moving to Mississippi with their mother, Bernadette. Floyd also had a son from a previous relationship.
