UN Reports Over 50,000 Displaced in Northern Ethiopia Due to Armed Clashes

According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), more than 50,000 individuals have been forced to flee their homes in rural areas of northern Ethiopia as a result of armed conflicts since April 13.

In a recent situation report, UNOCHA revealed that the majority of those displaced are women, children, and elderly individuals who are now seeking shelter in the towns of Kobo and Sekota located in the Amhara region.

The humanitarian crisis is severe, with a significant number of women and children requiring urgent humanitarian assistance for their survival.

Efforts are being made by the government and humanitarian organizations to provide food and healthcare services; however, these efforts are hampered by limited resources.

On April 13 and 14, violent clashes erupted in Alamata town in northern Ethiopia, leading to an unspecified number of casualties. Many civilians reportedly fled to the nearby towns of Kobo and Sekota for safety.
