Appeal from Wukari University Teaching Hospital to the Nigerian government for initial funding

Professor Daniel Zanyu Egah, the Acting Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the newly established Wukari University Teaching Hospital in Taraba State, has urged the federal government to promptly allocate a takeoff grant for the hospital.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday in the state, Professor Egah stressed the vital role of federal assistance in maintaining the hospital’s operations.

He underscored the potential of the hospital in delivering high-quality healthcare services to the people of Taraba State and surrounding areas if adequately supported by the federal government.

In addition to acknowledging Governor Agbu Kefas’ contribution to the hospital, the Acting CMD appealed for financial support from the federal government to ensure the institution’s sustainability.

He pointed out the necessity of federal funding for the hospital’s growth, noting a steady rise in the number of patients treated at the facility, with 400 deliveries reported between January and May 2024.

“The increase in patient visits reflects the escalating significance of the teaching hospital within Taraba’s healthcare sector,” Professor Egah remarked.

Expressing his vision for the hospital, he aspired for it to become renowned for medical excellence and serve as a regional referral center for healthcare facilities both in and outside Taraba State.
