APC: Denounces Fubara’s Words and Deeds, Calls for Impeachment

In a recent statement, the All Progressives Congress (APC) criticized Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara, declaring his actions and statements as grounds for impeachment.

Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Friday, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, emphasized the severity of Fubara’s approach, stating that his use of demolition as a tool to target and punish legislators was a clear display of autocracy and should be strongly condemned.

Morka highlighted the Governor’s blatant disrespect for a court order and the Constitution through his aggressive stance against the House of Assembly and its leadership.

He pointed out that Fubara’s behavior, including his immature remarks, was creating a situation where he might face impeachment due to his own actions.

The spokesperson underlined the significance of the Assembly as a constitutional body entrusted with legislative powers, elected by the people just like the Governor.

He emphasized that the Assembly’s existence is not subject to the Governor’s discretion and that the legislature’s role is fundamental to the democratic framework.

Morka clarified, “It is not the APC advocating for Governor Fubara’s impeachment as claimed by the PDP; rather, Fubara’s conduct is leading him towards his own impeachment through his reckless actions.”

He criticized Fubara’s statement denying the existence of the Rivers State House of Assembly as not just irresponsible but a direct challenge to the Nigerian Constitution.
