All Progressives Congress urges Inspector General to investigate alleged impersonators of Ganduje’s ward executives

Following reports of alleged impersonation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has submitted a petition to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, urging for the probe and apprehension of individuals implicated in the impersonation of party executives from Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

In a petition dated April 16, the party’s National Legal Adviser, Prof. Abdulkarim Kana, expressed concern over the actions of one Auwalu Jemomi and eight others. They are accused of falsely assuming the roles of party executives and causing confusion by issuing a statement announcing the suspension of APC national chairman Abdullahi Ganduje.

The petition outlines: “I am formally bringing to your attention the need to investigate and arrest the following individuals: Auwalu Galadima Jemomi, Muhde Weti, Danmala Gale, Samaila Haladu, Laminu Sani Barguma, Musa Lado, Lado Maishayi, Amadu Maishayi, and Umar Amarwa.

“These individuals have misrepresented themselves as party executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ganduje Ward in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State.

“On April 15, 2024, Auwalu Galadima Jemomi and his cohorts, posing as APC party executives from Ganduje Ward, Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, falsely released a press statement announcing the suspension of our National Chairman, Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, from the party.

“This unauthorized and deceitful statement has led to significant confusion and unrest among our members and the general public.”

Kana emphasized that such acts of impersonation and dissemination of false information are not only illegal but also have the potential to disrupt public peace and order.

Therefore, he urged the police to promptly investigate the matter and apprehend Jemomi and his associates.

Kana also requested the authorities to uncover and scrutinize any potential sponsors or accomplices tied to the incident beyond those explicitly mentioned in the petition.

It was reported by NewsNow that Haladu Gwanjo, the legal adviser of Ganduje’s ward, clarified on Monday that Ganduje was suspended from the party due to bribery allegations leveled against him by the state government.

Furthermore, a Kano State High Court confirmed Ganduje’s suspension on Wednesday, following an ex parte order that restrained him from claiming APC membership.

This order was granted by Justice Usman Na’abba after an ex parte motion was filed by Haladu Gwanjo and Laminu Sani, represented by their counsel Ibrahim Sa’ad.
