Anticipated Suspect Rearrested in Taraba After 27 More Children Rescued

An additional 27 children have been rescued from Mary Yakubu, a suspected child trafficker who was previously arrested in connection with the abduction of 33 children, according to the Taraba State Police command.

David Misal, the state’s police spokesperson, informed the media that a total of 60 children have now been rescued from the woman, who has been arrested three times.

The latest rescue took place on Sunday at Tashan Takalma community in Gassol Local Government Area of the state. The group comprised 14 males and 13 females. Yakubu is currently undergoing trial, while the recently rescued children have been placed in the care of the State Ministry of Women Affairs.

Mary was initially arrested on February 26 in Bali while she was making arrangements to transport some children to an undisclosed destination. She was subsequently arrested on March 4, with 23 and 10 children being rescued in the first and second arrests, respectively.
