Anthony Joshua Postpones His June World Title Defence Against Kubrat Pulev Due to Coronavirus

Anthony Joshua, the British-Nigerian boxer and World heavyweight champion, has postponed his scheduled June 20 title defence against Kubrat Pulev due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The two-time heavyweight champion, who hasn’t fought in the UK for two years, was set to face Pulev at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, these plans have been put on hold as both parties aim to secure a new date, possibly in August, when it is hoped that the coronavirus pandemic will have subsided.

“We’re speaking to Tottenham, we’ve postponed the 20th date,” said Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn in an interview with Sky Sports on Friday.

“We are working with them for dates in July and early August as well, when we hope we’ll be back.

“Hopefully we see that fight take place at the end of the summer.”

The IBF mandatory challenger for Joshua, Bulgarian Pulev, is set to face the WBA ‘super’ and WBO title holder in the postponed match.
