Anambra Police Commissioner Declares ‘War’ on Cultists

The Anambra State Police Commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has announced that there will be a massive crackdown on cultists in the state capital, Awka.

In recent times, there has been a significant surge in cult activities in Awka, with rival groups frequently engaging in deadly clashes.

Furthermore, the city has witnessed the beheading of a notorious cultist by members of a rival group.

CP Adeoye, in a press release by the state police command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, affirmed that all cult members would be apprehended in the upcoming operation.

Describing cultists as murderers unfit to coexist with law-abiding citizens, the commissioner emphasized that sponsors who intervened for arrested cultists would not be heeded.

“The Police Command will take drastic action against these heartless cultists who derive pleasure from taking lives. We issue a warning that no requests for the release of any arrested cultist will be entertained, unless someone is seeking disgrace,” the CP stated.

“The commissioner has ordered a full-scale operation against cultists and their sponsors in the state. He assures the people of Anambra State that peace and tranquility, which were disrupted by the recent cult-related killings, will soon be restored.

“He urges all law-abiding citizens to cooperate in eradicating the menace of cultism from our society,” added DSP Ikenga.
