Anambra LG Polls: APGA Alleges Soludo’s Plot to Disenfranchise Njoku-led Faction

Accusations have been made by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) faction led by Edozie Njoku, against Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, alleging plans to disenfranchise the party in the upcoming local government elections.

During a weekend visit to Anambra, the National Administrative Secretary of APGA, Okoro Chinedum Benedict, reported that thugs have been disrupting party meetings where state and national officers were discussing preparations for the council polls.

The party vows to resist any attempts to prevent their participation in the election, as they did over the past five years to regain power within the party.

Addressing journalists, Okoro mentioned: “Chief Edozie Njoku has tasked this delegation of the National Working Committee (NWC) to convey his unwavering support and trust in the special committee led by APGA National Secretary, Alhaji Muhyideen Imam.”

“On August 7, 2024, our party formally notified ANSIEC that INEC, in compliance with two Court of Appeal decisions, has recognized Chief Edozie Njoku and other executives elected at the May 31, 2019 Owerri Convention as the legitimate APGA executives,” he continued.

The party also presented Hon. Chief Ikechukwu Hillary Ejesieme as the Acting Chairman of APGA Anambra State and Hon. Sams Mogbo as the Acting Secretary, as the designated representatives for APGA in Anambra State for the upcoming LG polls.

Expressing disappointment, the party stated that despite acknowledgement of their letter, party officials have been barred from accessing meeting venues for the election planning.

“It is clear to everyone that Governor Chukwuma Soludo persists in efforts to undermine APGA to prevent the Njoku-led faction from fielding candidates in the forthcoming LGA elections in Anambra State,” the party emphasized.

“We will not permit anyone to deprive the people in rural areas of the benefits and positive intentions of this revitalized APGA,” the party declared.
