An Unfulfilled Service to Igbos: Igbo Nationalists Movement’s Message to Iwuanyanwu

Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has been advised by the Igbo Nationalists Movement that his service to the Igbo people has not been selfless.

Uche Mefor, the group’s Convener, addressed the media on Friday, raising concerns about the marginalization of the South-East region.

Encouraging Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide to prioritize securing an additional state for the South-East, Mefor called on Iwuanyanwu to assertively push for action to achieve tangible outcomes.

In the words of Mefor, “Chief Iwuanyawu, your commitment to the South-East and the Igbos has been lacking. To truly serve the interests of the South-East and the Igbos, the advice from Igbo-Biafra Nationalists and the Indigenous People of Igbo Nation for Self-Determination is for you to leverage your influence to drive leadership in political, economic, and social advancement in the South-East by advocating for the establishment of new state(s) in the region.

“This involves collaborating with state governments across the South-East to legally challenge the political and economic discrimination faced by the South-East and the Igbos in Nigeria, with the stipulation that the future of the Igbos in Nigeria must be subject to negotiations with the country.

“Embrace this cause wholeheartedly and refrain from politicizing the destiny of the South-East and the Igbos in Nigeria.

“By undertaking these actions, you would have fulfilled your obligations, earning the unwavering support of the South-Easterners, the Igbos, who will stand by you no matter what challenges arise.

“We have communicated our proposals to the South-Eastern political representatives through your office. If you are genuinely committed and not under external influence, as some claim, disprove these allegations by taking the crucial steps outlined in our recommendations. Your predecessor left office prematurely, but you now have the chance to leave a lasting impact. The time to act is now,” he concluded.
