Alleged Theft of TV Picture Boards Leads to Charges Against Security Guard

Standing trial in a Grade ‘A’ Customary Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, is Prudent Umadike, a 31-year-old security guard accused of stealing television picture boards.

The allegations against Umadike stem from his employment at a television repair shop located on Lebanon St. in Dugbe, Ibadan, where he was charged with housebreaking and theft.

Umadike entered a plea of not guilty in response to the charges brought against him.

The court was informed by Prosecutor Mr. Philip Amusan that the incident allegedly took place on April 16th around 6:30 a.m.

It is alleged that Umadike unlawfully gained entry into a shop owned by Anuoluwapo Adetoun and made off with 50 pieces of television picture boards valued at N750,000.

These actions are said to have violated Sections 413 and 390(9) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

Court President Mrs. Moji Aworemi granted the defendant bail set at N350,000, to be secured by two sureties of equivalent value.

Aworemi specified that the sureties must possess three years of tax clearance and be directly related to the defendant.

The hearing for this case has been scheduled for May 23.
