Allegations of Tenant Defiling Landlord’s Daughter Leads to Remand

Following accusations of defiling his landlord’s seven-year-old daughter, a tenant named Kareem Mojeed was remanded in the Agodi Correctional facility by the Iyaganku Family Court in Ibadan. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Olabisi Ogunkanmi, decided not to take Mojeed’s plea and instead ordered that the case file be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for guidance. The case has been adjourned until Oct. 14 for further advice from the DPP.

During the court proceedings, the Prosecutor, Inspector Gbemisola Adedeji, informed the court that Mojeed allegedly committed the heinous act on July 21 at 5:00 p.m. in the Ebedi area of Ibadan. Adedeji claimed that Mojeed enticed the young girl into his room and subsequently defiled her. The police highlighted that this act violates Section 34 of the Oyo State Child’s Rights Law, 2006.
