Allegations of abduction and defilement lead to arrest of 30-year-old actor

Authorities in Ogun State have taken into custody a 30-year-old actor known as Praise over charges of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl.

A statement by SP Omolola Odutola, the Public Relations Officer of the Ogun State Police Command, revealed this development on Thursday.

In part, the statement conveyed, “The Police Officer in charge of Mowe Division apprehended an actor, Praise, a 30-year-old male, on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old female.

“The arrest unfolded subsequent to a report received on the 1st of May around 1405 hours from the girl’s grandparents, indicating that their granddaughter had gone missing since the 27th of April 2024.”

The statement also recounted the grandparents’ claim that the accused had violated their granddaughter, causing her to experience significant bleeding when she was eventually located.

It stated, “The grandparents of the abducted teenager have accused the suspect of engaging in unlawful sexual activities with their granddaughter, who was found to be bleeding profusely upon examination.

“Medical assessments have been arranged for examination and treatment at a government hospital to gather more substantial evidence.”

A preliminary inquiry has commenced at the Mowe Divisional Headquarters but the case is set to be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a “confidential investigation.”

“No child in Ogun State should be subjected to such cruel treatment, sexual aggression, and abuse,” Odutola emphasized.

An earlier report by PUNCH disclosed that a man identified as Bro. Joe was captured by the Nigerian Police and local youths in Ogbogoro, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State back in February for abducting and raping a 12-year-old girl.

The victim was reportedly running an errand for her mother when the suspect and his companions allegedly confined her for two days in an unfinished structure.
