All Progressives Congress Accuses Peter Obi of Spreading Falsehood and Inciting Nigerians Against Tinubu

The APC has labeled the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as a blatant liar for his recent remarks.

According to the APC, Obi’s statements are deliberately misleading and aimed at fueling discontent against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In a statement signed by Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, it was asserted that Obi’s claim attributing Nigeria’s economic crisis to the nine years of APC rule is false.

Morka further contended that it was actually the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that should be held responsible for the economic challenges faced by the country.

Morka’s statement highlighted, “The recent comments made by Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 general elections and former Governor of Anambra State, are a clear reflection of his self-serving agenda at the expense of Nigeria’s best interests.

“Obi’s analysis of the nation’s economic state is filled with inaccuracies and deliberate distortions intended to stoke public outrage against the APC-led government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“His assertion that Nigeria’s economic downturn is solely a result of the nine-year APC administration is not only misleading but also a revisionist account of our economic trajectory over the past decade. He falsely insinuates that President Tinubu has made no efforts to address poverty and unemployment in the country.

“The reality is far more intricate. The decline in Nigeria’s economy commenced during the PDP era, with GDP growth dropping from 7.98% in 2010 to 2.79% in 2015. Since 2015, various global factors such as the crash in oil prices, geopolitical tensions, climate change, the COVID-19 pandemic, and population growth have greatly impacted Nigeria’s economy, which heavily relies on dwindling oil revenues.

“The growth experienced under the PDP regime was primarily due to the high crude oil prices and the subsequent government spending it facilitated.”
