AGF Abubakar Malami Denies Involvement in Sanusi’s Dethronement

The Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has refuted any involvement in the dethronement of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Emir of Kano.

Sanusi reportedly accused the Attorney General of Kano State, Ibrahim Muktar, and the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr Abubakar Malami (SAN), of instructing operatives of the Department of State Services and police to detain him after his dethronement in a lawsuit filed before a federal high court in Abuja.

Malami’s special assistant on media and public relations, Umar Gwandu, issued a statement on Sunday, March 15, denying the allegation and noting that Malami would refrain from further comment as the case is already before the court.

In his statement, Malami emphasized his lack of involvement in the dethronement and subsequent banishment of the former Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II. He underscored that the issue is sub judice and declined to provide additional commentary on the matter.
