Ademola Lookman: Champions League Qualification Crucial for Atalanta

Expressing the significance of Atalanta’s participation in the UEFA Champions League next season, Ademola Lookman emphasized the importance of securing a spot in Europe’s premier club competition.

Following their 2-0 triumph over Empoli on Sunday evening, Atalanta has strengthened their chances of earning a spot in the prestigious tournament.

Lookman showcased his talent by scoring Atalanta’s second goal through a remarkable solo performance, marking his 11th goal of the season for La Dea.

Along with his impressive goal tally, the Nigerian winger has also contributed with seven assists across various competitions.

Currently occupying the sixth position in Serie A, Gian Piero Gasperini’s squad trails AS Roma by two points, with AS Roma positioned fifth in the standings.

With five Italian teams set to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, Atalanta faces the challenge of surpassing Roma in the standings by the end of the season to achieve their objective.

“The victory over Empoli was crucial as we strive to secure a spot in the Champions League. Alongside our commitments in the Italian Cup and the Europa League, winning this game was paramount,” Lookman conveyed in an interview with Napoli Magazine.

“Although Roma poses a strong challenge, we are equally formidable. Despite the difficulty of each match, we are determined to emerge victorious,” he added.

Up next, Atalanta is scheduled to compete against Salernitana, the team positioned at the bottom of the league standings.
