A senior commander of the Russian forces dies after a bomb hidden in an electric scooter explodes

The lieutenant general Igor Kirilovhead of Russia’s radiological, chemical and biological defense, died this Tuesday morning in Moscow in a bomb attackas reported by the Russian Instruction Committee (CIR).

According to the CIR, the bomb was detonated when Kirilov, 54, was leaving his home accompanied by his assistant, who also died in the attack.

According to the official Russian agency RIA Nóvosti, which cites emergency services, the bomb was activated remotely, by radio signals.

Sources of the investigation, cited by the online edition of the Kommersant newspaper, pointed to the Ukrainian secret services as the possible perpetrators of the attack.

Kirilov, head of Russia’s radiological, chemical and biological defense since 2017, regularly gave press appearances; Among other things, he alluded to “American biological laboratories” in Ukraine.

The lieutenant general, who held the title of Hero of Russian Labor, was scheduled to meet with a group of journalists today.

An anonymous source from the Ukrainian Security Service, cited by the public news agency Ukrinform, claimed Ukrainian responsibility for the attack against Kirilov.

“The criminal nature of the kyiv regime is obvious. It is a terrorist state led by an illegitimate Nazi president. All those responsible must receive the punishment they deserve,” declared the president of the State Duma or Chamber of Deputies of Russia, Viacheslav Volodin, quoted by his press office.

He added that Kirilov “did a lot to increase the effectiveness of radiological, chemical and biological defense troops, and ensure the security and sovereignty” of Russia.
