Government of Cross River State dismantles 50 illegal revenue points
In parts of the state, the Cross River State Government has taken down over 50 unauthorized revenue collection points.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Tolls Collection, Mr. Bassey Ita Edet, spearheaded a monitoring and inspection exercise in the north of the State leading to this action.
An investigation revealed that these 50 revenue points were being misused by unauthorized individuals to extract money from travelers on state roads.
Edet informed the press that their focus is on eradicating the problem of illegal checkpoints and tolls, prompting a decisive crackdown on such illicit collections.
He emphasized that putting an end to all unauthorized tolls and checkpoints is in alignment with the principles of Governor Bassey Otu's "People's First" agenda.
