A man was arrested this Friday in the Swedish town of Fagersta, northwest of Stockholm, after entering a secondary school armed with a sword and injuring at least two people.
The Police have confirmed the arrest of the suspect, who was shot in the leg during the operation launched at the Brinell Institute, where the event took place.
According to the Swedish news newspaper ‘Aftonbladet’, he is an 18-year-old former student of the educational center who has a history of aggression and mental health problems, although these data have not yet been confirmed by the authorities.
The force launched an operation after receiving information, shortly after 2:00 p.m. (local time), about an “alleged act of deadly violence in progress” at a school, police spokesperson Pelle Vamstad told the aforementioned media.
According to local authorities, the suspect entered the premises with a sword and injured “several people.”
The Swedish Prime Minister, Ulf Kristersson, has regretted on social networks the “serious incident” that occurred in the town, the motivation of which is still unknown, for which he has asked the population to “let the Police and emergency services work without disturbance.”
“We still do not know what is behind the act, but we know that the police are working with great intensity. Our thoughts are with all the people affected,” he added.
