The family of late accident victim receives over N1 million from FRSC

Returning over N1 million and various items found at the scene of a fatal car crash, the Federal Road Safety Corps, FCT Sector Command, delivered the valuables to the family of the deceased.

In a news briefing held in Abuja on Friday, Mr. Muta’a Chorrie, the Sector Commander, praised the Unit Command for their honesty and hard work in locating and giving back the belongings.

The tragic accident took place on June 11 at the Ido junction along the Airport-Giri road in Abuja, resulting in the loss of three lives, including Najim Babalola, a student at the College of Education (COE) Zuba, who owned the bag, money, and other possessions.

Chorrie highlighted that the incident underscored the FRSC’s determination to uphold integrity and its duty to serve the public with empathy and openness.

He confirmed that a detailed examination was conducted to verify the belongings belonged to the deceased individual.

The retrieved items included a bag, two POS machines, five ATM cards, a Techno phone, a power bank, a rechargeable lamp, and over N1 million in cash.

Expressing his appreciation, he praised the unit command for their transparent handling of the situation, emphasizing the need to be cautious due to the likelihood of false claimants.

Chorrie stated, “We proceeded with caution to conduct thorough investigations before the funds were handed over. This is standard practice at the FRSC. We sympathize with your loss.”
