Miraculous Escape as Bus Collides with Truck in Lagos

In a heart-stopping incident on Tuesday, two individuals narrowly avoided tragedy when a public bus collided with a slow-moving truck in Lagos, according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA.

Confirming the incident in Lagos, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of LASEMA, reported that the two victims sustained various injuries of different severities.

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu attributed the incident, which occurred at Ojota, Maryland, Lagos around 4:45 a.m., to excessive speed and a lack of control.

He noted that the rescue operation was carried out by the agency’s Tiger Response Team from the Alausa command and control center in Ikeja.

Upon reaching the scene, they discovered that a commercial bus with the registration number APP 209XZ had crashed into an articulated vehicle bearing the registration number T4845LA.

The two individuals trapped inside the bus were successfully extricated and promptly transported to the hospital for medical attention due to their sustained injuries.

“Investigations unveiled that the accident was a consequence of the high speed at which the commercial bus was traveling, leading it to collide with the slowly moving truck in front,” he elaborated.

Following the incident that caused traffic congestion on the highway, the road was promptly cleared, and normal vehicular activities resumed before peak traffic hours.

Dr. Oke-Osanyintolu urged motorists to adhere to traffic laws diligently, drive cautiously, and avoid actions that could result in tragic accidents leading to the loss of lives and properties.
