Shocking News: Chairman of Kabba Bunu Caretaker Committee reportedly abducted in Kogi

Reports indicate that the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Kabba Bunu Local Government Area, Zacheous Dare Michael, has been abducted by unknown gunmen.

The incident took place on Friday evening along the Kabba-Okene expressway in Kogi State.

Michael is said to be vying for the chairmanship of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, in the local government, in preparation for the Kogi State council polls scheduled for October 19, 2024.

Sources informed that Michael had attended a meeting in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital, before he was taken captive.

The abductors, heavily armed as reported, opened fire on the vehicle of the Caretaker Committee chairman before seizing him and his companions, confirmed a security source in Kogi State to NewsNow on Friday evening.

Reacting to the incident, the Owe Political Platform WhatsApp group shared: “News has confirmed that the CTC chairman and some of his associates, such as Bank Andrew, have been abducted by unknown gunmen.

“We, the administrators of the Owe Political Platform, are appealing to all members to pray for their safe release unharmed. If anyone has reliable information that could aid in their rescue, please contact the police. May God intervene and soften the hearts of those responsible.”

All attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Kogi State Police Command, SP William Ovye Aya, were unsuccessful.

As of the time of reporting this, calls and messages directed to his phones remained unanswered.
