Massive Blaze Consumes Ladipo Plank Market, Resulting in Millions in Damages

The infamous Ladipo plank market, situated at Baale Roundabout, Orile-Iganmu, Lagos State, fell victim to a devastating fire that caused extensive destruction of property valued at millions of naira.

Reports indicate that the fire commenced close to midnight on Wednesday, with the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, confirming the incident.

LASEMA’s distress lines, 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency, were flooded with calls at 12:04 am, prompting the activation of the Cobra Response Team from Onipanu.

Upon reaching the site at 12:42 am, responders identified a section of the plank market engulfed in flames.

Further investigations revealed that the blaze originated from a stack of planks, likely due to a power surge, rapidly spreading to three adjacent shops.

Okunbor emphasized the implementation of safety protocols by the various response teams, coordinated by the LASEMA Response Team (LRT), ensuring the well-being of responders throughout the operation, with no reported casualties or injuries.
