EFCC Captures 9 Suspects for Online Fraud in Abuja


Abuja – The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended nine individuals suspected of engaging in online fraud in Abuja.

A statement released by the EFCC through its official X handle on Tuesday confirmed the arrests.

Based on credible intelligence gathered on their alleged fraudulent activities, the suspects were detained on Monday in the Wuye region of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The statement disclosed, “The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) operatives have apprehended nine suspected online fraudsters.

“Their arrest took place on Monday, 29 July 2024, in the Wuye area of Abuja following credible information about their involvement in internet-based fraudulent schemes.”

During the operation, law enforcement recovered various items from the suspects, including 19 phones, one car, four laptops, and one iPad.

The Commission announced that the suspects will face legal charges once investigations are finalized.
