The APC accuses Peter Obi of being a blatant liar and inciting Nigerians against Tinubu

The allegations made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the 2023 Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, characterize him as a straightforward deceiver.

The APC claims that Obi’s deliberate misrepresentations and dissemination of false information are designed to provoke public outrage against the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Felix Morka, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, stated that Obi’s assertion that Nigeria’s economic crisis was caused by the nine-year rule of the APC is deceptive and untrue.

In a statement released by Morka, it was suggested that the responsibility for the country’s economic crisis lies with the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and not the APC.

Part of the statement by Morka reads: “The former Governor of Anambra State and the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, has persistently demonstrated his self-centered devotion to advancing his personal interests at the expense of Nigeria’s well-being.”

“Obi’s recent comments on the economic status of the country are a combination of half-truths, blatant distortions, and deliberate misinformation aimed at stirring up anger against the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

“His conclusion that Nigeria’s economic crisis is the result of the nine-year rule by the APC is a highly revised, misleading, and distorted assessment of the country’s economic path over the last decade. He misleadingly claims that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration has made no efforts to address poverty and unemployment in the country.”

“The reality tells a more complex and varied story. The decline in the country’s economy began during the years of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with GDP growth dropping from 7.98% in 2010 to 2.79% in 2015. Since 2015, the economy of Nigeria, heavily reliant on significantly reduced oil export revenues, has been negatively impacted by the global drop in oil prices, geopolitical tensions, climate change, the global COVID-19 pandemic, and the increasing population.”

“The growth experienced during the PDP’s tenure was solely due to the high price of crude oil and the subsequent increase in government spending it facilitated.”
