Paco Marhuenda: "What Trump and Israel have done is great news, it was time to put an end to a bloodthirsty dictator"

During the program More than One Today, the panelists addressed the escalation of tensions in the Middle East and the role of powers such as the United States and Israel against the Iranian regime. For his part, Paco Marhuenda has expressed his satisfaction with the movement of Trump and Netanyahu against the ayatollah regime.

The journalist investigated the actions of former US President Donald Trump and the international pressure on Iran, which he described as a “dictatorial and destabilizing regime.” During his speech, he maintained that the Persian country has been a key factor in regional instability for years, pointing out its support for groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah. “Let’s not forget that four days ago tens of thousands of Iranians died, brutally murdered, as well as arrests, exemplary sentences… That is what is happening in Iran,” explains Marhuenda.

“The right side of history”

Marhuenda also stated that the Iranian regime persecutes dissidents and maintains a theocratic political system without effective democracy. In that context, he defended that the international community position itself “on the right side of history” in the face of a dictatorship.

At the same time, he explained how there is a tendency on the part of American citizens towards isolationism, which could have changed the course of history: “This isolationism was on the verge, in the Second World War, of preventing the actions of Roosevelt and the American army to liberate Europe, as well as in the First World War with the troops under the command of General Pershing.”

The talk show host added that Iran is increasingly isolated internationally, with support limited mainly to Russia. Likewise, during the debate the position of the Spanish Government was criticized. Marhuenda accused Pedro Sánchez’s Executive of maintaining an ambiguous position regarding Iran due to the influence of its political partners, mentioning Podemos.

The discussion concluded by pointing out that the situation could lead to a greater military escalation if tensions continue in the region, especially given the military capacity of the United States and Israel and the progressive isolation of the Iranian regime.
