Teacher placed in custody for suspected defilement of pupil
In Yola, a 37-year-old teacher named Adamu Ayuba has been ordered by a Jimeta Chief Magistrates’ Court to be remanded in a correctional facility for allegedly defiling a seven-year-old pupil.
The charge against Ayuba, who resides in Rawani, Jambutu, Yola, is for defilement as per Section 211 of the Penal Code Law of Adamawa State, as brought forward by the Police.
Ayuba pleaded not guilty to the accusation, and Chief Magistrate Musa Adamu scheduled the case for further investigation by the police, setting the next hearing for May 29.
Chief Magistrate Adamu stated, “The case will reconvene on May 29, allowing ample time for the police to complete their inquiries and submit the case file to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal recommendations.”
