Flamingos held to a draw by Burkina Faso in Bamako
In the first leg of their FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup qualifying tie in Bamako, Nigeria’s Flamingos were unable to secure a win and settled for a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso.
Chidi Harmony scored the opening goal for Bankole Olowookere’s team ten minutes into the second half.
However, Rainata Oubda found the equalizer for the home team just five minutes before the final whistle.
The two squads are set to face each other once more next Saturday at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja for the second leg.
The victor of the overall tie will advance to the final round of the qualifiers.
Nigeria concluded in third place at the previous FIFA U-17 World Cup in India.
The forthcoming edition of the competition will be held in the Dominican Republic.
