The Reason behind Demolishing Over 200 Shanties, as Explained by Ogun State Government
Addressing concerns over safety, the Ogun State Government has clarified that the demolition of more than 200 unauthorized structures surrounding school perimeters and marketplaces is part of the Safer School Initiative. This initiative aims to create a secure learning environment by eliminating criminal activities.
Farooq Akintunde, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Environment, stated that notices were served to owners of the shanties, illegal structures, and makeshift shops six months prior to the demolition, but they did not adhere to the directives.
