Stepmother arrested for burning stepchildren’s hands over a plate of rice
Police in Adamawa State have detained Rachel Geoffrey, a 23-year-old woman residing in Federal Housing Estate, Girei, after she allegedly caused burns to her stepchildren's hands.
The victims, Genesis Geoffrey, aged seven, and Idadai Geoffrey, aged three, are currently receiving medical attention for their injuries.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, Rachel is accused of deliberately causing severe physical harm to her stepchildren.
A press release issued on Saturday revealed that the incident took place on Tuesday, May 14.
The statement outlined a series of abusive actions and violations of the children's rights allegedly carried out by their stepmother.
