51 Individuals Rescued from Human Trafficking by NAPTIP in Kano


In Kano, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has announced the successful rescue of 51 victims of human trafficking.

During the handover ceremony of the rescued individuals by the Kano State Hisbah Board, NAPTIP Zonal Commander Abdullahi Babale made this revelation on Monday.

According to Babale, two suspects linked to the trafficking were apprehended by Hisbah operatives. The rescued victims, ranging from 18 to 50 years old, consisted of 49 females and 2 males.

On April 21, the victims were rescued at Hotoro motor park in Kano metropolis by the State Hisbah Board while en route to Cote d’Ivoire to obtain visas for travel to Saudi Arabia for labor exploitation, he explained.

“Among the 51 victims, two are of Nigerien nationality, while the others hail from various states including Kano, Katsina, Yobe, and Jigawa,” Babale stated.
